First Baptist Church Center

Sunday Morning Worship Services RESUME this Sunday at 10:15am!

May 17th, 2020

Worship with in the Sanctuary or online.

What a thrill it is to officially announce that we are re-opening our doors for worship this Sunday at 10:15am. We will not have Sunday school. Children will attend worship with parents with social distancing requirements. No childcare will be provided.

We are encouraging all to wear face masks to protect those around us and practice social distancing by keeping a minimum of 6 feet distance between each other. If you or someone you love is in a high-risk category, we encourage you to stay home and continue to worship online with us.

  • We will maintain social distancing between family groups.
  • There will be no form of children activities or nursery provided. Parents will be asked to keep their children with them.
  • We will use offering boxes located at the back and front of the auditorium.
  • Please feel free to wear a mask and/or gloves you bring from home.
  • We are asking those over 65 to consider watching from home. We will respect your decision, whatever it is.
  • Please respect others and do not attend if you are not feeling well, have a fever or underlying health issues. We want this to be a safe place for all.
  • One final word. The service will continue to be broadcast on our Facebook live page and website. So please do whatever is safe and comfortable for you and yours. We will respect your choice. We look forward to seeing those of you who choose to come and worship with us this Sunday!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The following update are portions of an all-church email sent friday 4-24-2020

With continuing concerns regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus), we want to let you know that the health and safety of our members and guests is a top priority at First Baptist Church Center. Our leadership team is continually monitoring the situation and we will continue to adhere to any recommendations made by the CDC, Governor and local health officials regarding public gatherings.

It is correctly being reported in some media outlets that our freedom of religion surpasses the COVID guidelines. We know as believers that freedoms also carry responsibilities (Galations). We want to make responsible decisions in all situations.

With the continuing rise of new cases in our county we are still “one church in hundreds of locations joined together online, cable tv and by radio”. We are all anticipating worshipping together again but that time has not yet come. This email is to update you all on some decisions that have been made. We will update our website and later emails as new information develops,

We will continue to worship online until we can provide a safe experience.

We are hosting online Sunday school and worship services on Sundays at 9:00 & 10:15 am for the foreseeable future. During the production of our services, we are adhering to the CDC’s recommendation of limiting groups to 10 or less people.

When will we be able to worship together in person?

Right now our county’s case count is rising.  When we see the cases start to fall, we will be able to start to implement steps to meet together again safely while practicing all the recommendations made by the CDC, Governor and local health officials regarding public gatherings. We will prepare you in advance for our return to in-person gatherings.

How are summer activities going to be impacted?

Our staff and committees are monitoring the summer activities closely. The decision to postpone and adapt some of our major Summer activities are being processed by the respective committees. Some of the decisions that have been made are as follows:

  • Vacation Bible School will transition to an at-home format.
  • Children’s Camp is still being evaluated by the Children’s Committee and updates will be made available once decisions are finalized
  • Super Summer was canceled this summer by the BGCT
  • Youth Summer Camp will be changed to a different format and will take place at a later date.
  • Our annual cake auction will not take place this year.

What was the vote result of the called business meeting vote?

The result of the vote was unanimous in seeking the PPP Loan/grant. Our application was accepted and we will receive the funding by the end of this week.

What should I do if I need any assistance?

Our church offices are closed, but we are still available to help in any way that we can. You may contact our staff by calling Bro. Bobby at 817-692-3302 or David Mathis at 936-598-5605 and we will respond as quickly as possible.

Giving update:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have not gathered for in-person worship for five weeks. Our giving, however, has been impacted while many have remained strong. Praise God! We commend you for your generous and sacrificial stewardship. Thank you for loving Jesus, His gospel, and your church so faithfully by funding our ministries and mission with your financial resources. You can still mail your tithe or give online.

CARE- Help us love our community.

      • If you live beside or are in close contact with families who have high-risk individuals in their homes, reach out to see if they need anything.
      • Maybe that means offering to pick up supplies on your next trip to the store or dropping off some food if they’re unable to get out.
      • Simply look for ways to Love Where You Live in the coming weeks and commit to praying for our leaders and community.

INVITE others to connect with us online.  By sharing and inviting, others will hear Jesus.

Please be assured that your Leadership Team is thinking through the guidelines and strategies we will implement for returning to in-person worship.  We are thinking and planning carefully, so we can follow practices that will best serve and protect our membership and community.  When our local and state governing authorities release the guidelines and timelines for churches to reopen, we will prepare you in advance for our return to in-person gatherings.

Until We see each other face to face,

HELP US LOVE OUR COMMUNITY

One of the best ways to help us love our community during the spread of illness is simply to be a good neighbor. If you live beside or are in close contact with families who have high-risk individuals in their homes, reach out to see if they need anything. Maybe that means offering to pick up supplies on your next trip to the store or dropping off some food if they’re unable to get out. Simply look for ways that you can Love Where You Live in the coming weeks and commit to praying for our leaders and community. If you know of any other senior adult or general ministry needs, please call David Mathis at 936-598-5605.

Tyler Keese going away gifts:

Due to the recent physical distance restrictions we will not be able to have a reception for the the Keeces.  If you would like to give Tyler a gift  during his time of transition please bring it by the church. Please call before you come so that we can let you in.

Above all else, remember that we serve a sovereign God who instructs us not to live in a spirit of fear. God is good, He’s faithful, and we know that He’s still at work all around us.
